UCLA Department of Ophthalmology Association Announces
New Officers
The
UCLA Department of Ophthalmology Alumni Association recently
announced new officers for the 2008–2010 term. Robert E.
Engstrom, MD, Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology
has graciously assumed the role of President. Michael J.
Groth, MD, Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology
will serve as Vice President, and Robert Alan Goldberg,
MD, Professor of Ophthalmology, will continue to serve as
the Association’s Treasurer and Secretary.
Kathryn M.
Gardner, MD, Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology
is the outgoing president, having served as Vice President from
2004-2006 and President of the Association from 2006-2008.
Dr. Gardner was
acknowledged for her dedication and contributions to the Association
at the Institute’s graduation ceremonies last May, 2008.
Dr Engstrom
is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in
diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous. He completed his
residency and fellowship training at the Jules Stein Eye Institute
after graduating from medical school at UCLA. He joined the
full-time faculty at Jules Stein in 1995 and acted as Co-Director of
the Ophthalmic Oncology Center from 1995 to 2005. Dr. Engstrom was
the Chief of Ophthalmology at the UCLA-Olive View Medical Center
from 1997 until 2006. Dr. Engstrom established his private practice
located in Encino in 2001 where he sees patients now on a full-time
basis. He continues to teach and supervise the residents and fellows
as an Associate Clinical Professor at the UCLA-Olive View
Center.
