Robert Ahmanson

Mr. Robert H. Ahmanson was President and Trustee of the Ahmanson
Foundation, a philanthropy dedicated to a wide range of cultural
and human service projects. Among his commitments to UCLA, Mr. Ahmanson served on the UCLA Foundation Board and Board of Governors, and was a Trustee of the Brain Mapping Medical Research Organization.
He was named a Fellow of the College of Letters & Science
and awarded the UCLA Medal. Prior to his retirement in 1995, Mr.
Ahmanson was a Director and Officer of the H.F. Ahmanson & Co.,
Home Savings & Loan of America. He passed away in September 2007.
The Ahmanson Foundation was established in 1952 by Howard F. Ahmanson
and Dorothy Ahmanson, later incorporating their two nephews, Robert
H. Ahmanson and William H. Ahmanson. The Foundation has been a dedicated
supporter of UCLA for more than four decades. Its generous gifts
to the medical sciences have contributed to the advancement of research,
education and treatment, and include support for the Ronald Reagan
UCLA Medical Center.
