With a law degree and certification as a public accountant, Mr Smith
launched a 30-year career at MCA, Inc., (now Universal Studios) in 1966,
in the area of corporate tax planning. He served the company as a corporate
officer through much of his tenure. He represented MCA in foreign joint
venture operations, including MCA/Paramount's rapidly expanding movie cinema
construction projects, and he was deeply involved in MCA's governmental
relations programs in Washington, D.C. Mr Smith is now retired, making
available his considerable expertise to a number of civic organizations
in Los Angeles, including KCET, Woodbury College, St. Matthew's Church,
Bel-Air Bay Club and UCLA.
Mr Smith graduated from UCLA with a business degree in 1961, and
from the UCLA school of law in 1964. The Smith family has made a
personal and public service commitment to UCLA over three generations.
Mr George Smith, his wife Ann, their son Randy, and Ann's mother,
Dorothy, are all graduates of UCLA and supporters of many UCLA activities.
