The planned
construction of the Edie and Lew Wasserman Eye Research Center
has made it possible to create new programs that will further
JSEI’s clinical and research initiatives. This Center will
permit the creation of the revolutionary Laraine and David
Gerber Genetic Eye Research Center, a ground-breaking Vision
Proteomics Center, the only one of its kind in the world, an
expanded Ocular Inflammatory Disease Center and Comprehensive
Cataract Center as well as state-of-the-art ophthalmic
operating rooms, including an area for gene therapy.
A
wide range of opportunities exists to invest in different
aspects of this new building. Support of its faculty and
programs will be of enormous benefit to the Jules Stein Eye
Institute and the future of vision science.
Gifts
to support activities made possible by the Wasserman Center may be unrestricted or may
target specific areas. |

The JSEI Partners are helping Director Bartly J. Mondino, MD, to
meet the Institute's needs. "The Wasserman Center will enable
us to realize the next generation of miracles for the treatment
of eye diseases. The JSEI Partners will provide the building blocks
for these miracles and the result will be the transformation of
vision science in the 21st century." In coordination with JSEI
faculty, the Partners are developing the means to create or expand
four distinct research and treatment centers. Each center will address
a specific and pressing need in ophthalmology and vision science,
and each will further the faculty's considerable and admirable body
of work.
